We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This notice explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have.
1) What this policy covers
- Visitors to our website and app
- Users who create a Swift Resume account
- People who use our LinkedIn Member Data Portability (3rd Party) import
- People who contact us for support or marketing
This policy does not cover third-party sites you link to from our product.
2) The data we collect
a) You give us
- Account & identity: name, email, password (hashed), profile photo (optional)
- Resume content: employment history, education, skills, links, and any other text you enter
- Billing: billing name, address; last four of card; payment status (handled by our payment processor)
- Support: messages sent to our help channels
b) Collected automatically
- Usage & device data: IP address, device/browser type, app logs, pages viewed, approximate location (city/region)
- Cookies & similar tech: see §10
c) From third parties (only with your action/consent)
- LinkedIn Data Portability import: PROFILE, POSITIONS/EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS (see §4)
- Auth providers: if you “Continue with LinkedIn” (OIDC), we receive your basic profile and email
We do not deliberately collect special category data (e.g., health, religion). Please don’t include it in your resume unless strictly necessary.
3) Why we use your data (lawful bases)

You can withdraw consent at any time (e.g., for LinkedIn import or marketing) without affecting prior processing.
4) LinkedIn Member Data Portability (3rd Party)
If you choose Import from LinkedIn, we will:
- Request your explicit consent and list the objects we’ll import (PROFILE, POSITIONS, EDUCATION, SKILLS).
- Fetch the data once per request and show an editable preview before saving.
- Never scrape public LinkedIn pages, perform background pulls, or share the imported data with third parties.
- Store tokens server-side, encrypted, and allow you to Disconnect LinkedIn at any time.
- Provide a Delete imported data action that removes imported fields from your resume(s) and revokes our access.
Note: LinkedIn’s portability feature may be restricted by region. We provide alternatives (e.g., upload your LinkedIn PDF) where needed.
5) AI features
When you ask Swift Resume to generate or improve text (e.g., bullet points, summaries), your prompt and the relevant resume snippets are sent securely to our vetted AI providers to return the requested output.
- We do not allow providers to use your prompts or outputs to train their models.
- We may store the prompt and output in your account, and a pseudonymous log for debugging/abuse prevention.
- You can delete generated content at any time.
6) Who we share data with
We don’t sell your data. We share it only with service providers (“processors”) who help us run Swift Resume, under strict contracts:
- Hosting & infrastructure: [e.g., AWS/Cloudflare]
- Payments: [e.g., Stripe]
- Analytics/error tracking: [e.g., PostHog/Sentry]
- Email & notifications: [e.g., SendGrid/Customer.io]
- AI model providers: [e.g., OpenAI/Anthropic], used solely to deliver requested features
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
7) International transfers
Your data may be processed outside the UK/EEA. Where it is, we use approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and EU Standard Contractual Clauses, plus technical and organisational measures (encryption, access controls).
8) How long we keep data
- Account & resumes: while you have an account; you can delete resumes or your account at any time
- Abandoned drafts: deleted after 12 months of inactivity
- Support tickets: 24 months
- Analytics logs: 12 months
- Billing records: 6 years (tax law)
When you delete data, we remove it from active systems and backups within standard rotation cycles.
9) Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access, regular backups, and monitoring. No method is 100% secure; we work to prevent and respond to incidents promptly.
10) Cookies & tracking
We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies (required for login, security, load balancing)
- Analytics cookies (to understand product usage)
- Preference cookies (remember settings like locale, cookie choices)
Where required, we show a cookie banner and only set non-essential cookies with your consent. You can change choices in Cookie Settings and in your browser.
11) Your rights (UK/EU)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object, and port your data, and to withdraw consent at any time.
To use these rights, email [privacy@swiftresume.co.uk]. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local EU authority.
12) Children
Swift Resume isn’t intended for children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.
13) Marketing
We send product updates and tips with your consent. You can unsubscribe in any email or in your account.
14) Changes to this policy
We’ll post any changes on this page and update the effective date. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email.
